Job Description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Negotiates with suppliers
  2. Manage daily (JIT) delivery schedules
  3. Schedule deliveries with trucking companies
  4. Schedule container deliveries with overseas suppliers & logistic companies
  5. Manage Packaging/Crating Buying & Scheduling deliveries to suppliers & factory
  6. Performs contract analysis & landed cost product analysis 
  7. Manage risk analysis report to Senior Management weekly
  8. Report current & forecasted spend weekly
  9. Code & Resolve Invoice Discrepancies 
  10. Manage end of life products
  11. Minimize excess and obsolete materials
  12. Enters purchase orders for production parts, engineering parts, services and MRO
  13. Negotiates Supplier Agreements
  14. Participates with supplier quality department on surveys and first articles
  15. Maintains contracts and nondisclosure agreements
  16. Participates in ECO implementation
  17. Team member MRB, coordinate MRB disposition and return to vendor process
  18. Evaluate supplier performance with supplier quality group
  19. Performs all other tasks as required
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in business or related field required; eight years of buying /purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting required.
 
  • LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
  1. MATH ABILITY:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of   measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent
 
  1. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
  1. TECHNICAL SKILLS: knowledge of MRP a plus
 
  1. COMPUTER SKILLS: Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 
  1. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: APICS, CPIM/CPM classes complete or in process
 
  1. EQUIPMENT AND DEVICE OPERATION: No special equipment required

  1. Ability to multi task and provide accurate information in a fast paced setting
  2.   Ability to Negotiate purchase orders, to meet long-range quality delivery and cost targets, work order creation, issue, and close out.
  3.   Knowledge of Global commodity industry 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is in an office setting.  However, some time will be spent in an open factory environment. On the factory floor the temperature fluctuates relative to the outdoor weather do to large roll up doors in constant use. There is some excessive noise on the production floor.  The immediate work area has no caustic chemicals or fumes. Occasional travel (1-3 times per year) may be required.
