Quality Engineer
Job Description
Looking for a Quality Engineer at our Redwood City plant. The ideal candidate will have good understanding & knowledge of Quality Management System, especially ISO9001 and AS9100. Experience with programming on CMM or visual CMMs is a plus. This Company operates within an AS9100 quality system requiring communication and documentation skills.
Responsibilities:
· Perform Internal Audits based on ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
· Maintain the calibration system; perform calibration on calipers, micrometers, etc.; manage external equipment calibration; ensure all test equipment are properly maintained, calibrated and fully functional.
· Provide production support to all departments by developing, preparing, and writing work instructions, quality instructions.
· Generate FAIR reports on new and existing products, to support Engineering (PPAP processes), and production (new and existing products)
· Perform self-release inspection on various products prior to shipment.
· Support the RMA processing.
· Perform mechanical inspection of intricate precision parts using a variety of measurement tools (micrometers, comparators, toolmakers scopes, smart scopes, CMM, etc.)
Requirements:
· Good communication skills, both verbal and written English. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, operators, customers, and suppliers.
· Possess a customer focus attitude, be self-motivated, and have acute attention to detail.
· Strong knowledge of the QMS process (ISO 9001/AS9100), demonstrates familiarity with the internal audit process and ability to generate technical documents.
· Develop manufacturing processes including work instructions, and quality instructions.
· Must be able to read part prints and have a good understanding of GD&T tolerancing.
· Be Quality conscious and able to work within an ISO9001/AS9100 quality system to assure production and delivery of quality products to our customers.
· Must be able to work in a team environment with high flexibility of assignments between the inspection team to support the specific needs of operation at any given time.
· Be able to lift up to 30 lbs. of parts / totes. Working in combination of office and machine shop environment.
· Operating and Programming CMM and other vision CMM is a plus, but not required.
Education & Experience:
5 years of work experience in a similar role in manufacturing industry.
