Business Unit DescriptionThe Metal Fabrication, Backplanes, Machining, and Energy business operates across facilities in the United States (Fremont, Newark, Austin, Houston) and Mexico (Guadalajara, Monterrey), with potential expansion into Europe. This division provides complex assemblies and enclosures for leading global manufacturers within diverse sectors including Aerospace & Defense, AI & Data Centers, Automotive, and Industrial.We are seeking a seasoned Commodity Manager with a strong techno-commercial foundation to lead the supply chain for ferrous and non-ferrous raw materials and mechanical components. The ideal candidate will deliver sustainable financial performance through robust sourcing strategies, strategic supplier partnerships, and strong operational execution.ResponsibilitiesThis role collaborates with Supply Chain and Operations leadership to drive strong business results through innovative sourcing strategies, supplier optimization, technology-roadmap alignment, and strong commercial acumen.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a global scope spanning mechanical manufacturing and integration facilities in the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
  • Define and develop sourcing strategies for ferrous and non-ferrous raw materials (steel, copper, aluminum, special alloys) and outsourced services (plating, painting, epoxy coating, etc.).
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers aligned to business needs, technology direction, and operational footprint.
  • Assess capability gaps in the current supply chain and identify or develop new suppliers to strengthen overall performance.
  • Own supplier selection, pricing, negotiations, and business awards across RFQ, NPI, and mass-production stages for both new and existing customers.
  • Work closely with quoting and operations teams to provide guidance and ensure alignment on commercial and sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with key agreements such as NDAs, purchase agreements, and VMI programs.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with strategic suppliers to strengthen collaboration, improve cost competitiveness, and secure favorable commercial terms.
  • Develop and share procurement intelligence on market conditions, supply landscape, and raw material pricing trends.
  • Support internal teams in resolving supplier-related escalations depending on urgency and severity.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Utilize strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) to support sourcing and reporting activities.
Professional Experience & Qualities
  • Experience in EMS, metals fabrication, metal distribution, or Tier-1 mechanicals/manufacturing environments in North America, with exposure to Data Center, Cloud, Semiconductor, Industrial, Defense & Aerospace, Automotive, and Healthcare sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; multilingual capability is a plus.
  • Ability to think strategically while effectively handling tactical, day-to-day activities and escalations.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience working in ERP systems (Oracle experience preferred).
Education & Industry Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Industrial Engineering (required).
  • 15–20 years of experience in commodity management for ferrous and non-ferrous raw materials and mechanical components at a regional and/or global level.
  • Deep understanding of metal manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Customer-facing experience is an advantage.
