Job Description

Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer Reports to: Senior Projects and Resources Manager 
Supervises: may supervise CAD drafter and/or documentation clerk 
 
Job Function: 
Designs (or modifies existing designs) to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Creates layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, electrical diagrams, sheet metal, etc. Determines design characteristics such as panel/control layouts, functional configuration and chassis/frame design. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, tooling and equipment interchangeability, replace ability and serviceability. Coordinates with other departments affected by design development. Directs the efforts of lower level drafters; may check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures and accuracy of calculations. Performs supplier design reviews, audits, development, and qualifications. ? Adds features and modifications to tool for new processes, troubleshooting and repairing tool issues ? Ensures completed layouts and drawings adhere to company standards for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures and accuracy of calculations. Maintains the electronic and/or hardcopy knowledge base that consists of (but is not limited to) processes, design documentation, change orders, BOM’s, product tables and system logs. 
 
Skill Requirements: 
Must be skilled in the use of Autocad 2000 and above and SolidWorks CAD. Must possess good knowledge of engineering practices, be very thorough in documentation and possess good leadership and communication skills. Specific experience with vacuums, pumps, sheet metal and machine parts design required. Working knowledge of diffusion process equipment preferred. Preferred candidate will have experience with vertical or horizontal semiconductor furnaces, gas delivery systems, fittings and their components such as valves, MFC’s and gas control devices. 
 
Experience: 
Five to eight years of mechanical drafting and design experience, preferably in semiconductor process manufacturing equipment. 
 
Education: 
BA Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
 
Physical Requirements: 
Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, sit, stretch, lean and climb ladders and use small hand and battery-operated tools for long periods of time. Must be able to hear verbal direction and safety instructions. Requires superior hand/eye coordination and dexterity and the ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
