This company is transforming into a Software Only company! The technical program manager will own the program management lifecycle for the company Software on Third Party Platforms. The job includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing hardware, software, firmware qualification projects for third party hardware platforms across internal and external organizations. In this role, you will work closely with the company engineering teams, outside technical services providers, hardware vendors, the company product management and systems engineering teams to bring new products to market and manage their life cycle through changes in hardware, firmware and software.  Projects include, but are not limited to, ordering hardware, platform qualification, component qualification, firmware and driver qualification, major software feature additions, bug fixes, knowledge base article generation and some sales support. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate all key third-party platform project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule and scope changes  
  • Lead and coordinate NPI/life cycle management/component qualification activities related to the company software on third-party hardware platforms  
  • Work closely with product management, engineering and support teams to plan and execute field requested SW features and HW platforms and components  
  • Assist with bug triaging and prioritization  
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations worldwide, including internal teams and contractors  
  • Manage on-call/support case follow-ups, knowledge base article generation and some field communications  
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect project scope, schedule, and quality  
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure platforms are delivered on time and meet or exceed expectations 


  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Engineering or related field  
  • 8-10 years previous release and/or project management experience with technical expertise in software development, firmware or hardware engineering  
  • 5 years of experience at an enterprise data center equipment or infrastructure software company in a development position  
  • Solid understanding of release and project management principles  
  • Familiarity with hardware and software development life cycle models  
  • Advanced knowledge of software development tools and methodologies  
  • Solid understanding of x86 server platforms (Disks/flash, NICs, processors, RAM, storage controllers) and server virtualization technologies  
  • Experience with bug tracking and Agile development system (JIRA, etc., …)  
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward completion  
  • Willingness to own the outcome of each project  
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills  
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills a must  
  • General knowledge of office productivity apps including Microsoft Office and Slack
