Job Description:

-       Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

-       Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities.

-       Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.

-       Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.

-       Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

-       Develops technical documentation.

-       Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.

-       Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverable associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

-       Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

-       Candidate may be required to respond to after-hours requests as required in a 24 x 7 environment.

-       Assist in leading the effort to build secure, stable and scalable solutions on various Linux distributions and hardware/virtual platforms.

-       Provide intermediate/advance Linux user and server support.

-       Responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to: user account administration, kick start installations, virtual server deployments, nic bonding, software installation, system updates and patching, application configuration, troubleshooting Linux operating system and hardware failures, monitoring servers for health and status, troubleshoot network, storage related issues.

-       Install, manage, configure and maintain Enterprise Class Data Center hardware including but not limited to Dell, HPE, Cisco USC Servers, Netapp and 3PAR.

-       Maintain highly available, high quality, healthy systems for production and staging environments.

-       Support and automate tasks using scripts and configuration management like Ansible/Puppet.

-       Working experience with container technology like Dockers and CI/CD processes using Jenkins.

-       Candidate should be proficient in the following: Ldap, DNS, NFS, yum, LVM, rsyslog, VMware/ESXi,SAN configuration on physical server, networking, Big Brother/Xymon, Ansible/Puppet, Clustering, Shell and Python scripting.

-       Candidate must also have a working understanding of AWS and cloud computing.



-       7+ year of Linux systems engineering experience in a 24X7 Operations environment.

-       2+ years of experience using AWS features such as EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, CloudFront, VPC, Security Groups

-       Deep understanding of operating system fundamentals, virtualization, networking and network performance, DNS, HTTP, SSH, SSL, SMTP and application performance.

-       Experience with server hardening and security of systems.

-       Experience with working on different server hardware platforms.

-       Experience with configuring monitoring systems (Nagios, Cacti,Splunk etc)

-       System build & configuration management automation experience (Ansible, Puppet etc)

-       Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and ability to write scripts in Shell/Python.

-       Experience with IT processes like incidents, service requests and change management.

-       Strong interpersonal and communication

-       Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
