Job Responsibilities: 

  • Lead mechanical engineering efforts for a portfolio of smart-home products. 
  • Translate industrial design into the design of mechanical assemblies, including highly-cosmetic parts. 
  • Generate test and manufacturing specifications for mechanical parts and sub-assemblies. 
  • Use CAD software (Creo 3.0 preferred) to develop and manage designs; manage revision control. 
  • Apply iterative approach to design concepts by developing multiple design scenarios and leverage rapid-prototyping technology (3D printing, machining, etc.) to produce physical models. 
  • Produce 3D files and 2D drawings with detailed material-specifications, tolerances and FAI call-outs. 
  • Perform tolerance analyses and complete GD&T specifications. 
  • Work closely with in-house and external EE, ME, ID, QA, testing and regulatory compliance for product development and manufacturing. 
  • Provide requirements to and work on DFx with plastics injection-molding/tooling, sheet-metal forming, packaging, final product assembly partners. 
  • Travel to Asia for working with design and manufacturing partners during prototype, NPI and high-volume transfer stages. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience designing electronics products with highly-cosmetic features. 
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software (Creo 3.0 preferred). 
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing environments and methodologies. 
  • Experience managing the progression of designs through NPI stages. 
  • Familiar with PLM processes and tools such as Arena. 
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage workload flexibly. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and history of working collaboratively to meet project deadlines. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort interacting with local and geographically-dispersed team members. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Asia.
