Position: Senior Electrical Engineer – Embedded Systems

Reports To: VP R&D / Engineering

Required Background:

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering

  • >10 years of experience as an Electrical/Hardware Engineer with embedded systems focus

  • Previous experience architecting and developing energy efficient embedded systems, with solid understanding of space, power and cost constraints

  • Broad experience with design and debugging of communication bus architectures such as I2C/I2S/SPI/UART.

  • Creative designer of electrical circuits, eager to solve technical problems at the system level

  • Advanced/expert level with schematic capture and layout (Altium preferred)

  • Hands-on ability to debug circuits with lab equipment and perform prototype soldering work

  • Ability to work closely with embedded software engineers and other electrical engineers

  • Excellent communication skills – able to convey information to management and user groups

  • Capable and interested in mentoring junior engineers


  • Experience with design, testing and measurements of RF systems

  • Experience designing products for high reliability applications (Automotive, Aerospace, Military, Medical)

  • Experience with audio communication systems

  • Previous oversight of compliance testing for electrical safety and EMC

  • Use of LabView, Python, etc. to create automated test fixtures and data acquisition systems

  • Working knowledge of Matlab

  • Always looks to challenge the 'old ways' and ability to learn

  • Adapt and adjust quickly according to team needs

Position Description:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical designs of battery powered circuits and systems, including schematic capture, layout, and interfacing with board fabrication and assembly vendors. The senior electrical engineer will have full ownership of electrical design for their projects while overseeing contributions from other engineers and providing support across projects, including mentoring junior engineers. The candidate will be involved in system architecture definition in order to make size/power/cost tradeoffs in hardware and to help optimize system design and design for manufacturing. This person will be expected to perform bring-up testing/debugging and documentation of new designs, while ensuring the product is ready for transfer to manufacturing with appropriate test fixtures, code and procedures. This engineer will interface closely with electrical, firmware and mechanical engineers to develop new and exciting products.
