Job Description


Individual must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum direct supervision and actively promote continuous improvement in all activities associated with the position.  Must have strong, management and leadership skills.  Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in written formats and in presentations to employee groups. Ability to mentor Production Leads. 
Works Fab shift schedule. In addition may be required to attend meetings and/or training occurring outside of regular shift schedule. 
Job Description:  

  • Assure compliance by shift personnel to safety rules and procedures and maintains a safe manufacturing area at all times.  Complete accident reports as needed and coordinate fire drills and other safety activities.  
  • Be an expert in the flow of work through the Fab and facilitate the proper movement of work in progress through all areas.  
  • Work closely with the Vertical Team Production Leads to coordinate and direct resources to keep the production line running smoothly.  
  • Work closely with the Vertical Team Production Leads in supervising MTs on shift.  Share responsibility for monitoring and making adjustments for the performance of the area, coaching Fab Operators, and driving company initiatives such as 4DX and 5S+.  
  • Assure shift performs to production, delivery, cost, quality and documentation objectives.  Assist in equipment setup decisions as in allocating headcount, equipment, etc. as needed to meet manufacturing objectives.  Assure compliance with all quality systems, Real Time Dispatch, and HR policies.  
  • Working with Vertical Team Production Leads, provide semi-annual and annual Fab Operators’ performance assessments.  
  • Schedule Fab Operators’ one-on-ones when needed or requested.  
  • Work with Production Leads, execute wip management strategies.  Set wip management priorities and monitor performance to plan.  
  • Optimize shift performance to support Organizational goals.  
  • Establish meaningful measures and evaluation methods determining progress towards those measures.  
  • Participate in interviewing Manufacturing Operator candidates when needed or required.  
  • Working with Production Leads "drive change", maintaining high morale, and providing positive solutions.  
  • Using Fabtime (Cycletime management software) will prepare reports for morning & afternoon status meetings.  
  • Attend off-shift meetings as needed or required.  
  • Represent the Production Management Team in meetings such as Equipment Escalation when needed or requested.  
  • Working with Shift Management Team, conduct daily shift passdown meetings.  
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office applications and other software to aid on project management and tracking production indices.  
  • Help with organizing and providing additional training to Fab Manufacturing Operators and teams: i.e. Promis, Wafer Handling, Clean Room, SPC, etc.  
  • Perform Standard Work Projects as needed or requested.  
  • Assist Production Leads, QTT, and Fab Manufacturing Operators with Test wafer management and other cost controls.  
  • Performs internal shift audits (Safety, LPA, Clean Room, Documentation, Certifications, & Wafer Handling).  
  • Establish and maintain a rapport with the employees focusing on productivity, enthusiasm, and good will.  Foster teamwork and team accountability, provide leadership to demonstrate the benefits of working together, and encourage team resolution of problems.  
  • Identify Manufacturing Operators training needs in assigned Vertical Team on shift and coordinate completion of training needed.  
  • Track Priority lots and communicate schedule to prepare next processing stations.  
  • Keep focus on slow movement lots (Production leads informed, engineer notification for "Lots On Hold", control room for Stop/Start Notices, & reticle issues)  
  • Drive Yield Improvement & Misprocess Reduction actions on shift.  (help track 5 why's, VCS & Loss follow-up)  
  • Learn and manage the CADET system. Present on wafer Cadet Events when requested or needed at the CAPA meeting.  
  • Interact with Line Maintenance and Process Engineering in establishing daily priorities.  
  • Interact with shift managers from other shifts to provide accurate pass down and ensure consistent behaviors.  
  • Champion zone for 5S+ as needed or requested.  
  • Sustain 5S+ program in all areas of shift engaging the shift employees in the program.  
  • Attend off shift/off site training when needed or requested.   
  • Address and mitigate conflicts when needed or requested.  
  • Using the Shift scorecard maintain positive and negative feedback for shift Manufacturing Operators.  
  • Support Company goals and initiatives.  
  • Ability to multitask and follow through on projects to completion.  
  • Duties and responsibilities not limited to foregoing items, but dependent upon Business needs. 


  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of Fab process and production flows or has demonstrated a proven track record of rapidly learning new concepts and process flows.  
  • Bachelors Degree is not required, but highly desired.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability  
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with employees at all levels within the Company  
  • Demonstrates computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.  Demonstrates skills and experience with using Fab computer programs.  Examples: the PROMIS system (Lot tracking, SPC Charts, etc.)  
  • Understanding of Employment Law and administration. 


  • Carry one wafer box at a time where total weight is approximately 16 lbs.  
  • Stand while using a microscope.  
  • Stand and/or walk the majority of time on shift.  
  • Place wafers in and out of a boat without rattling the wafers.  
  • Recognize different colors.  
  • Hear, understand and converse in English.  
  • Wear appropriate clean room clothing to perform duties and responsibilities.  
  • Have the ability to lift and hold at forearms length at least 15 pounds of dead weight.  
  • Work a compressed work week schedule consisting of a 12+ hour shift three (3) days one week and four (4) days alternating weeks.  May be a day or night shift.  
  • Carry and use a Spectralink phone.  
  • Able to gown, and degown with a bunny suit to access the cleanroom.  
  • Able to perform job duties while wearing a bunny suit and adhering to cleanroom protocol.  
  • Able to attend and participate in various meetings or discussions with peers and employees.
