This company is working to revolutionize energy storage by developing next-generation Lithium-ion technologies that increase energy density and reduce the cost of storage. The manufacturing Production Engineer will support the manufacturing team through safety, quality, and productivity process improvements. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the manufacturing team can safely and consistently produce quality material from process step to process step. They will be the manufacturing team’s day-to-day technical support for addressing safety, quality, and productivity issues. They will also be responsible for leading long-term projects that implement key manufacturing systems and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) with the goal of scaling up manufacturing capabilities and maximizing production, while maintaining a safe working environment. 

Responsibilities 

  • Troubleshoot and provide day-to-day technical support for manufacturing tools and processes. Get excited about firefighting, analyzing, and addressing each day’s operational challenge with enthusiasm and rigor. 
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures. 
  • Review non-conformances and work with both manufacturing and external teams to execute root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventative actions. 
  • Understand and implement relevant Lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and debottleneck production processes. 
  • Be a leader and technical resource for the manufacturing team to identify and drive continuous improvement projects. 
  • Effectively collaborate with multiple teams to lead the implementation and management of key manufacturing systems that enable the scale up of manufacturing capabilities and drive productivity, quality and safety. 
  • Act as a servant leader for all manufacturing operations team members through focused listening, consistent information sharing, coaching and development/delivery of training. Willing to periodically work shifted hours to support night shift teams. 

Requirements 

  • B.S. in industrial, chemical, manufacturing engineering or similar field, Master’s Degree a plus 
  • 5+ years of related work experience 
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of Lean Manufacturing Principles 
  • Experience using statistical software packages (SPC), querying relational databases, and strong data analytics skills 
  • Experience using or implementing key manufacturing systems such as: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Management of Change, Inventory Management/Tracking Systems, Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Document Control Systems 
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of complex production equipment including wiring, mechanics, controls, instrumentation, and operation 
  • Demonstrated leadership, ability to inspire others and work autonomously 
  • Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills 

Good to have 

  • High volume manufacturing experience in semiconductor, PV, chemical industry, batteries or similar is preferred 
  • Six Sigma training preferred 
  • Demonstrated project management experience a plus
