Position Description: 

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for thin film deposition equipment. Determines system specification, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software capabilities. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental test and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specification and reliability. Coordinates design of subsystem and integration of total system. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Collaborating with systems, software, electrical and mechanical engineers to develop and implement hardware/ firmware requirements. 
  • Strong Knowledge of automatic control theory and application, expertise in operation of peripheral devices and sensors such as: thermocouples, electric actuators, motors, heaters, pressure sensors, pressure controllers, flow controllers. This individual is also required to have a good understanding of the safety requirements/ regulatory compliance (e.g. S2, S22, NFPA79, EMI/ EMC etc.) which are inherent with this type of equipment. 
  • Define specifications for new equipment and adaptations. 
  • Responsible for the design, development, integration and documentation of control system for thin-film chemical vapor deposition tools. 
  • Trouble shooting of PLC’s, diagnosing of complex problems, defining and implementation of solutions. 
  • Expert level troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems. 


  • A BSEE or equivalent, MSEE preferred. 
  • 5-7 years of direct experience in electrical engineering in the semiconductor capital equipment industry. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the market/industry trends relating to technical advancements and competitive positioning. 
  • Hands-on design and implementation experience with capital equipment control system, temperature control, AC/ DC power distribution, pneumatic control and motion control with a field bus system. 
  • Strong working knowledge of DeviceNet and EtherCAT bus system is highly preferred. 
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs is required. Hands on experience with Beckhoff and Allen-Bradley PLC are preferred. 
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming is required. 
  • Experience in leading projects in which technical expertise, budget management and people management are highly desire 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Work effectively and independently in a fast paced environment 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
