Polymers Processing Engineer

This company is growing! We're looking for a Polymers Processing Engineer to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts! 

As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will: 

  • Work with management, technicians and operators to continually improve manufacturing processes, decrease cycle times/optimize production, maximize throughput rate, increase product quality, minimize scrap and troubleshoot processing problems. 
  • Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots molding equipment and process parameters. Produces prototypes and makes appropriate adjustments as needed. 
  • Monitor and review daily production efficiencies to ensure consistent processing. 
  • Design and perform process characterization studies, design of experiments, establish capability studies, documenting work product in protocols and reports. 
  • Develop, document and implement standard molding processes and methodologies. 
  • Use scientific molding method to validate new molding processes and re-validate existing/legacy processes. Perform (IQ/OQ/PQ), documenting material parameters and equipment parameters, documenting work product in protocols and reports. 
  • Research, design and develop manufacturing processes and new technologies. 
  • Recommend and improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency. 
  • Work with design, manufacturing, production, engineers and tooling during the entire development cycle. 
  • Emphasis on new mold sampling prior to transfer to production. 
  • Participate in Tool Design Reviews and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing. 
  • Troubleshoot molding and manufacturing processes and material issues. Work with internal and external resources to resolve molding and manufacturing issues and implement long term solutions. 
  • Research, develop and implement manufacturing process controls, machinery modifications and improvements. 
  • Provide input on new or alternate materials for cost reduction or molding improvements. 
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned. 


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) preferred. 
  • RJG certification or equivalent plastics industry formal training is strongly desired. 
  • At least 5 years of injection molding experience. 
  • 4-8 years’ experience in a process improvement/engineering role. Medical device experience preferred, catheter experience desired. 
  • Strong Solidworks skills. JMP or Minitab a plus. 
  • Strong knowledge of mold design and set-up. 
  • Strong understanding of materials typical to catheter production: Pebax, Nylon, Polyurethanes, PEEK, PTFE, Polycarbonate, etc. 
  • Authoritative figure in area of expertise. 
  • Familiar with technical literature and standards related to area of expertise. 
  • Quality Management System experience preferred.
