The Materials Supervisor/Manager oversees the organization’s material management policies, objectives and initiatives. Responsible for planning and purchasing of raw materials, supplies, and equipment to support sales, manufacturing, and engineering functions. 


Include the following (other duties may be assigned as necessary): 

  • Define and gain executive support for the company's material management program from supply chain, manufacturing and commercial planning and distribution. 
  • Implementation and maintenance of an ERP system. 
  • Will work closely with marketing, sales and manufacturing to forecast and plan raw material purchases and production builds 
  • Responsible for material flow throughout the facility with direct reports in planning, shipping and receiving. 
  • Coordination with quality and engineering on supplier selection and qualifications. 
  • Manage materials cost reduction activities through contract negotiation, identification of second source suppliers, and outsourcing. 
  • Manage all departmental employee related activities (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines) 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 


  • BA/BS in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) with relevant experience in a regulated healthcare industry, medical device/hearing aid experience preferred.  
  • At least 10-12 years of direct material management experience, including personnel/department management and experience with applying processes and procedures in a growing development environment.  
  • Must have demonstrated experience/ability with the implementation of MRP/ERP systems such as QAD.  
  • Must have experience in supply chain logistics and LRP cost reduction strategies.  
  • Must have knowledge and experience related to qualification of suppliers per ISO and FDA standards.  
  • Direct experience in supply metric generation and reporting as well as communication through management reviews, etc.  
  • Ability to quickly grasp technology, medical applications, and applicable regulations/standards  
  • Ability to positively influence groups across an organization to embrace a common philosophy  
  • Ability to manage and execute on multiple, critical projects simultaneously  
  • Strong ethics to escalate issues in the face of competing company priorities  
  • Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency
