Key Responsibilities

  • Performs technically challenging functions such as assembling, testing, modifying, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems 
  • Designs test plans, fixtures, selects components and data acquisition (Labview DAQ’s / PLC’s, and discrete sensors), performs testing, collects data, and reviews results with engineering 
  • Must be comfortable documenting, assembling, and testing prototype electro-mechanical subsystems with limited oversight/documentation available 
  • Must be adept at quick turn, in-house manufacturing methodology including machining and modifying sheet metal and other mechanical parts 
  • Coordinates installation of lab equipment and facilities including AC power, CDA/N2, PCW, DI Water, exhaust, vacuum, seismic, etc 
  • Monitors and maintains lab equipment (3D printers, Instrons, Thermotrons, mills/lathes, etc) and support equipment (vacuum pumps, chillers, PCW distribution, etc) 
  • Plans, tracks, manages lab equipment schedule and utilization, coordinates resolution of schedule request conflicts, and identifies opportunities for improvement/optimization 
  • Works and effectively communicates with cross functional teams including mechanical engineering and electrical engineering 
  • Generates and provides equipment training and guidance to other lab users 
  • Organizes and maintains hand tools, tracks calibrations, and orders replacements as necessary 
  • Monitors and maintains a safe lab environment

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 + years of experience 
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organization skills 
  • Excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills 
  • Strong initiative required 
  • Familiarity with semiconductor equipment strongly desired 
  • Previous experience working with vacuum and RF systems preferred 
  • Familiarity with software programming (Labview) preferred 
  • Strong computer skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Sharepoint, etc. 
  • CAD knowledge desired, but not necessary (Mechanical and or Electrical packages such as NX, UG, Solidworks, PCAD, etc.) 
  • Experience using common power tools such as drills, Dremel, hacksaw, grinders, etc. 
  • Familiar with machine shop tools such as CNC mill, Lathe, etc
