Key Requirements  (must have):  

  • 3 years of experience servicing scientific/technical equipment, operation of digital volt meters and oscilloscopes.  
  • Field Service experience  
  • Microsoft office hardware/software  
  • Assoc Degree in Applied Science in Electronics or equivalent technical school 

Travel: Ability to travel on short notice 50% of the time with occasional higher spikes. The rest of the time in San Jose office. 
 
Job Duties: 

  • On-site service including: repairs, maintenance, upgrades and installations. Service is to be performed to meet quality standards, completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime and reduce expenses. Train customers on operation of products.  
  • Remote (TeamViewer), phone and email support to help the customer to troubleshoot problems and decide on a course of action. Determine if the problem can be resolved over the phone or if a site visit is necessary. 
  • Installation and removal of demo/loaner equipment at customer site.  
  • (Demo) Assist in the ongoing sales effort. Demonstrate operation and use of equipment to prospective customers.  
  • (Loaner) Reduce customer downtime in cases where a component of the system will be returned to the parent company for repair.  
  • Maintain a parts inventory to be able to perform on-site service. Communicate with the factory to identify critical parts.  
  • Represent the company at trade shows and explain our products and how they are used in the industry. Setup and teardown of booth and demo equipment. Record lead information from booth visitors.  
  • Schedule own travel plans. Coordinate with customer's schedule.  
  • Record all activities in the Service Management system and generate service reports for customers. Submit expense reports for all travel expenses. Prepare quotations for service to be performed and for service contracts. 

 
Required Skills: 

  • Associates in Applied Science in Electronics or equivalent technical school.  
  • 3 years experience in servicing scientific/technical equipment, operation of digital volt meters and oscilloscopes.  
  • Demonstrate Good mechanical ability.  
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills.  
  • Computer hardware experience, installing hardware, software, drivers and operating systems.  
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.  
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Spreadsheet and word processing software proficiency.  
  • Ability to travel on short notice.  
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time with occasional higher spikes. Occasional travel outside of the US.  
  • Self-managed, taking ownership of customer satisfaction.  
  • The ability to transport yourself to and from appointments.  
  • The ability to lift/move with force exertion up to 100 lbs. 

 
Preferred Skills: 

  • Past experience using, servicing, installing imaging or scanning equipment/components.  
  • Experience with mechanical systems, robotics or sample handling.
