SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: 

The Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager is responsible for work in a wide range of EH&S disciplines. By developing, implementing and maintaining programs, the EH&S Specialist will help create and streamline the systems and procedures necessary to ensure the overall health and safety of employees as well as compliance to all regulatory requirements. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal health and safety regulations. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, plans, and procedures. 
  • Apply expertise to the proper maintenance of the work environment in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations. 
  • Responsible for matters related to environmental permitting (air, water, waste), safety, compliance monitoring, reporting, and auditing. 
  • Interface with various regulatory agencies while hosting, documenting, responding to and tracking audits and inspections. 
  • Drive continuous improvement programs. 
  • Review and maintain records of materials and chemicals used in manufacturing and R&D facilities. 
  • Maintain HMBP and MSDS’s for the site. 
  • Responsible for managing waste streams and understanding hazardous waste disposal and transportation regulations and requirements, including interpreting and ensuring compliance with environmental and transportation laws and regulations. 
  • Monitor, measure, and maintain key data and report performance of key environmental metrics. 
  • Interface with Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies on permitting and related issues. 
  • Conduct training on general safety, fire hazards, and occupational injury prevention. 
  • Provide technical expertise company-wide on operations design and safety procedures. 
  • Participate in accident investigations to determine root cause and prevention. 
  • Apply safety policies to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, dangers, and hazards. 
  • Develop and coordinate emergency response procedures. 
  • Serve as Emergency Response Team Lead and chair Safety Committee. 
  • Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory and company requirements. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations or designee. 

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment but not required. 
  • Must have Hazardous Waste Training. 
  • Certifications in CJMM, ASP, CSP a plus. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Chemistry or other Safety or Environmental related field. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

There are no special requirements of the job other than being to perform normal computer related tasks. Must be able to spend extending periods of time walking around the plant as part of normal job functions. No significant lifting requirements. Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
