Responsibilities

* Oversees and manages logistics operations including 3PL providers, transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products

* Monitors transportation costs to ensure low cost with high service levels; negotiates contracts/rates for shipment, storage and distribution of product (both international and domestic)

* Ensures compliance to Export Administration Regulations and all US and international trade regulations

* Develops and maintains processes and documents structure required for compliance with U.S. and international customs agencies, laws and regulations

* Works with the field service organization to develop and implement the spares inventory strategy, depot management, and fulfillment process

* Manages all inventory for production systems and service spares; works with the procurement team to ensure material availability to meet the build plan, on-time and on-budget

* Responsible for inventory controls and material accuracy; utilizes sound security policies and procedures consistent with good accounting and distribution practice

* Establishes and measures KPIs, applies statistical methods and drives performance for on-time delivery, shipping, warehouse inventory management, and product quality

* Investigates root cause for problem reconciliation and leads corrective action for complaints related to last minute configuration, transportation, logistics handling and warehousing of finished product

* Works closely with the supply chain, engineering, and NPI teams to ensure full readiness for design modifications and new product launches

 

Education, Experience, Skills

* Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related discipline

* 5+ years progressive leadership growth in materials and logistics operations – preferably within a medical capital equipment company environment

* Experience in large top tier medical capital equipment companies as well as in start-ups or small companies

* Experience managing import/export compliance, ocean & air freight, forwarders, consolidators, brokers, and domestic transportation carriers; demonstrated proficiency working with U.S. Customs Brokers

* Competence and experience in international logistics operations and trade regulations (including ITAR, ACE, EAR, and OFAC)

* Experience setting up and managing third party logistics providers, multiple inventory locations and spare parts depots

* Expert level materials planning and controls process knowledge (sales, inventory and operations planning processes, inventory management, MPR, ERP); experience in deployment of MRP systems highly desired

* Excellent negotiations skills

* Strong leadership skills and proven track record of building successful teams

* Good business acumen and analytical mindset; able to comprehend financial models of the business and able to think and act strategically in the interests of the whole business

* Working level competence in ISO 13485/cGMP quality systems
