The role manages the in-house digital production department and is involved with a wide variety of technical projects including sustaining engineering efforts as well as introducing new manufacturing processes.
This individual oversees the day-to-day work of production employees and manages their performance and development; implements and monitors projects within the production department; adheres to timelines and budgets, procures capital equipment and tooling as required to support production; and provides both technical and management leadership within the Manufacturing Operations Group. Familiar with a variety of supply chain concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical device industry and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned as necessary):

•The individual will be “hands-on” working with operations to support product, process and manufacturing activities. Activities will consist, but will not be limited to digital design and fabrication utilizing 3D scanning and printing equipment as well as product prototyping, process improvements, inspection and test, writing protocols and reports. Individual must have experience designing custom eartips for commercial use as well as experience in low to high volume 3D manufacturing environments.

•Ensures that the Digital Manufacturing Department delivers the highest quality products, which consistently meet (or exceed) all applicable customer expectations; follows QSRs and ISO requirements; abides by company safety policies, practices and procedures; and consistently meets company goals, objectives, and milestones.

•Oversees the day-to-day work of employees and manages their performance and development by facilitating training and providing performance feedback and guidance.

•Communicates production status to senior management and establishes project plans, timelines, needed resources, capacity requirements and cost justifications to successfully lead the Production Department, focusing on issues that might significantly impact schedule, product quality, cost and reliability.

•Contributes directly to the development of new concepts, processes, and techniques to ensure low product cost, short cycle time, high yields and minimal or no rework and ensures sufficient personnel and equipment capacity to support production ramp up for smooth transition of new or revised processes.

•Creates cross-functional teams and cultivates a network of support (R+D, Quality, Sales and Marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments, utilizing external resources as needed.

•Mediates group conflicts and resolves issues between team members.

•Leads continuous improvement activities and advanced problem-solving techniques in six sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Demand Flow, Kanban configuration and Manufacturing Execution System.

•Manage all departmental employee related activities (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines)

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
•Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership in a directly related field, preferably in a medical device environment.
•Direct management experience with ability to manage resources: time, budget and people.
•Strong people management skills is essential
•Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively at all levels
•Knowledge of and compliance with applicable Quality System requirements (e.g., traceability QSRs, ISO and MDD)
•Ability to positively influence groups across an organization to embrace a common philosophy
•Ability to manage and execute on multiple, critical projects simultaneously
•Hands-on individual with demonstrated experience in the design and development of custom products/eartips through the use of additive manufacturing
•Experience utilizing 3D printing, Geomagic Studio, 3Shape and Solidworks to produce custom hearing components preferred
•Strong ethics to escalate issues in the face of competing company priorities
•Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency
•Performs a variety of tasks and leads/directs the work of others.
•Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude
