The Buyer/Planner ensures raw materials, equipment, tools, parts; services, supplies are planned, scheduled, and procured at the best price, quality, and on-time to support the master production schedule/plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned as necessary):

  • Plan, buy, monitor raw materials to support purchase parts inventory buffers levels and / or material requirements.

  • Work closely with R&D and product development team(s) to meet aggressive product introduction launches.

  • Monitor price changes, Supplier delivery / activities and provides recommendation to management.

  • Complete and submit the paperwork to establish new Suppliers. Maintains relationships with all Suppliers on the ASL.

  • Actively participate in Supplier Quarterly Business Reviews

  • Accountable for meeting quantifiable supply chain and or operational performance metrics.

  • Optimizes/maintains inventory levels for raw materials and meets, exceed financial inventory investment targets.

  • Timely executes MRB disposition of raw materials.

  • Ensures purchase order integrity in the procurement system. Complies with Sarbanes-Oxley purchasing controls.

  • Approves invoices and when necessary provides reconciliations between supplier and accounting.

  • Performs analysis cost savings in inbound freight spend and provides recommendation.

  • Communicates status of materials to production, supply chain, planning, engineering, and quality organizations.

  • Receive, stock, count, and kit inventory parts when needed.

  • Prepares selected management reports.



  • BS or BA Degree in Business or Operations/Industrial Engineering Preferred or equivalent.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a start-up environment.

  • Minimum five (5) years purchasing experience with ERP production planning, control, and execution systems.

  • Minimum five (5) years in a manufacturing environment, preferably with a medical device manufacturer.

  • Proven understanding and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing environment processes and previous involvement in business process improvement tools and methodologies.

  • Ability to read a wide variety of specifications and blueprints.

  • Excellent reading, writing and math skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple activities and work under pressure to meet schedule deadlines.

  • Must be a self-starter and team player with the able to work with minimal supervision.
