Job Description:

 We are seeking a candidate with exceptional RF system design and analysis skills to play a key role in conceptualizing, developing, and verifying designs for our next-generation radiation therapy system. The Senior RF System / Linac Engineer will be responsible for RF system design and development, analysis of linear accelerator system performance, and high power RF component specification and selection. A thorough understanding of the physics and mathematics behind linear accelerator theory and operation is required. The senior engineer will be expected to be able to accurately set up, perform, and interpret Monte Carlo computer simulations of beam generation and related photon trajectories. Engineering tasks will include some high power RF system design, some accelerator engineering, RF component integration, and testing and tuning Linac systems for optimum performance in a challenging rotating environment. The engineer must be able to work within medical device quality systems and design control, including specification, risk analysis, and formal testing.  The successful candidate must be able to excel in a fast-paced team environment, be a strong communicator, operate with a level of autonomy and be capable of making sound decisions when faced with time pressures, and sometimes incomplete information, typical of a research and development environment.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, specification, and analysis of complex Linac-based medical device subsystems
  • Work closely within a project team to deliver high quality work within project milestones by utilizing positive cooperation and collaboration
  • Set up and perform accurate Monte Carlo analysis of photon generation and trajectories
  • Provide skilled RF system support and conduct expert Linac troubleshooting activities to support ongoing company testing and evaluation efforts
  • Participate in formal risk analysis and contribute by formulating effective mitigations
  • Participate in verification and validation testing sufficient to support a 510(k) submission and clearance
  • Provide support and assistance in the development of efficient and high quality production processes 

 

 

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • 6+ years of experience with linear accelerator technology (radiotherapy medical device experience preferred)
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and high energy environment and exhibit self motivation
  • Possess a demonstrated and strong understanding of accelerator theory, conceptual RF system development, and design and RF analysis capability
  • Have relevant experience performing and interpreting Monte Carlo simulations
  • Possess a thorough understanding of RF theory, RF measurements, and RF components
  • Familiarity with medical device design control concepts such as design input, design output, traceability, risk analysis, and V&V testing
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Exhibit a passion for creating robust and reliable products
