Software Project Engineer

 

As a member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for managing the development of Networking Applications for Routers, Home Gateway, Wi-Fi extenders products. These products will incorporate most of the following technologies: DNS/DHCP, IP, HTTP, SNMP, 802.11n/ac/ad Wireless, Ethernet, VPN, Firewalls.

 

The primary function of a Software Project Engineer at our company is project management and technical oversight. The product development engineer manages the 3rd party application development vendors and ODMs to ensure that mobile applications are delivered in a timely fashion to a high quality and in accordance with the NETGEAR procedures and systems. Software project engineer works with PLM to define the software project requirement and is responsible for developing functional specification of the Software project.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

* For assigned projects, take overall responsibility for delivering the applications ( iOS, Android, desktop); including requirements generation, firmware, functional specification, and documentation, Agile release requirements, per our company policies. It is expected that projects should be managed with minimal supervision.

* Project management. Develop, publish and meet schedules, keep all stakeholders informed of product status at all times

* Project Execution. Manage the suppliers' (ODM, application developers, etc.) SW development process.

* Product Verification. Manage verification testing of product features and performance and able to test field issues as needed.

* Manage beta testing of the applications. Follow our company  beta process and resolved issues reported by beta users.

* Documentation. Provide input for manuals, help files, gift boxes, application notes and tech support web pages.

* Support. Resolve any 3rd level technical support escalations.

* Travel as necessary to work with ODM/3rd party vendor

* Track industry technology developments, supplier roadmaps, standards bodies and make product recommendations

Skills and Requirements

 

* BSEE/MSEE with 5-10 years experience in networking software product development

* Hands on mobile SW development is a plus

* Strong understanding of home and WiFi networking.

* Engineering background with significant hands-on experience in product development.

* Strong problem solving skills, able to track and resolve issues.

* Effective organization, project management and coordination skills; ability to get the job done.

* Ability and willingness to take ownership of SW applications; get the job done with minimal supervision.

* Teamwork. This position requires a close working relationship with the extended of our team, including engineering, beta team, customer support, marketing and program management.

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

* Experience working in a start-up environment.

* Self-starter that works well on a team.

* Adaptive to ever-changing situations and answer the challenges
