We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to augment an already talented ME group and to be part of a larger R&D team. The successful candidate will demonstrate an extensive track record of technical leadership and innovation, functioning as a hands-on individual contributor.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide/define the mechanical system architecture for new products and product platform development.

  • Contribute individually to the creation of elegant design solutions from concept through manufacturing.

  • Enable fast-turn, clinical feasibility prototypes for immediate evaluation in the Clinic.

  • Be a sounding board and provide technical review for other contributors in the ME group.

  • Proactively influence and advance technical strategy and productivity across all disciplines.

  • Mentor the product engineering team and help create an environment of learning and commitment to elegant, cost effective and reliable product design.

  • Generate and leverage our company’s intellectual property portfolio.

     

  • Position requirements:

  • BS & MS, or Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering with 7+ years related mechanical design experience involving opto-mechanical products and energy based devices. Experience with medical ultrasound, RF and laser energy delivery is preferred.

  • Extensive CAD design experience. Solidworks preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and leading manufacturing technologies

  • Proven experience in structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and/or multi-physics simulations; expert use of Matlab, Pro-E Mechanica and Comsol preferred.

  • Proven communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment

  • Ability to solve complex design/engineering problems independently and to break-down complex requirements into tasks actionable by team members.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for mechanical engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope

  • Demonstrated ability to draw reliable conclusions and make recommendations based on cross-functional inputs (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory)

  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and bench skills; hands-on leader for design, prototype builds, qualification and test.

  • Experienced in Tolerance analysis and GD&T
