Seeking a Project Engineer for our MOCVD Business Unit. The position will report directly to the Manager of Flex Engineering.  The successful candidate is a critical part of the business unit leadership team and directs a focused team of talented engineers, consultants, and contract design partners.  The Project Engineer manages critical external resources and owns the execution of contract design efforts. This is a hands-on position that requires both managerial and technical leadership to bring compelling new products that solve high value problems to market, while delivering support to the sales and operations teams as needed to satisfy the business unit’s customers.


  • Direct and supervise design consultants and contract design partners. 
  • Own the product development for contract design engineering activities and ensure that products meet market window timelines and required specifications (On-Time; On-Spec; On-Budget), including SEMI, CE and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects to meet schedule and budget targets
  • Oversee the engineering designs and testing to ensure conformance to product specifications
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards during the design and development process 
  • Present engineering plans and status updates to project stakeholders 
  • Direct engineering support of sales and manufacturing operations comprising applications development, product installation, troubleshooting, and 8D analysis
  • Ensure adherence to contract engineering department budgets 
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving and executing results through others
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and create a sense of urgency and inspire a commitment to excellence
  • BS in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related technical discipline with at least 8 years engineering experience in a related industry (e.g., metrology, instrumentation, capital equipment, aerospace and/or defense). MS or MBA preferred.
  • 2 years of direct project engineering technical leadership (e.g., design lead, system engineer, and/or project manager)
  • Excellent program, project and task management skills 
  • Strong familiarity with a phase gate design and development process 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication and leadership skills
