Position: Process/Mechanical Engineer

Department: Engineering

Location: Milpitas

Reports to: Manager, R&D Advanced Touchscreen Engineering

Responsibilities:

Responsible for generating detailed project scope; designing, creating, prototyping, and modifying touch screen solutions. Establish requirements, maintain schedule, and bring new products to market. Generate process documentation and visual controls. Formal documentation of manufacturing processes. Ensuring quality processes are implemented and executed. Work with other engineers regarding accuracy, design, fitness for use and drafting standards.

 

Ideal Background:

3-5 years engineering work experience with a proven track record that developed programs and hardware that are used in production and manufacturing processes.


Education and qualifications:

B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing/Industrial or related Engineering discipline. 
Certified Automation Professional (CAP)


Specific Professional Skills/Competencies:

Provide Project technical support for the design, development, cost estimation, installation and start-up for new projects and upgrades. 
Ability to understand and work with all engineering disciplines including electrical, software, and hardware. 

Design, develop, monitor, and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing products, product changes and enhancements. 

Must be versatile and able to adjust to the fast pace environment of the Engineering department. Able to work independently and to be proactive to identity problem areas. Aptitude and desire to learn new products and technologies. Must be self-motivated, and able to produce measurable results. 

Candidate will need to be able to write technical reports for validation, troubleshooting, product and process efficiencies. Must be self-motivated and have a team player attitude. Six-Sigma knowledge a plus. 

Candidate will ideally have experience in the following areas: 
1. Mechanics of glass including cutting, grinding (CnC), ultrasonic cleaning. 
2. Familarity with Bando machine or similar. 
3. Provide technical support to the plant for maintenance, operation and troubleshooting Instrumentation and Low Voltage Electrical systems including PLC’s and other automation systems. 
4. Familiar with leading CAD packages including Pro-E and AutoCad. 
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems using statistical tools like DOE. Knowledge in developing products using Quality tools such including DFSS, FMEA, DFM, Lean Design, TQM, and Kaizen. 
5. Experience in specifying and developing new capital equipment including all documentations and qualifications. 
6.Demonstrated success in bringing new products to market on time and on budget. 

Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
Travel required 20-30%
