Founded in 1998, the corporate headquarters for the Company are located in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Cutera is proud to manufacture all of its systems and accessories at its California headquarters.  It has direct global operations in North America, Japan, Australia, and several European countries, and its products are distributed in over 40 countries.  


Position Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional engineering program manager to lead product development teams through all phases of product development.  Programs involve a broad range of technologies including sophisticated laser and optical delivery systems, radio-frequency, and ultrasound devices.  The ideal candidate would have a strong engineering background and experience leading both engineering and cross-functional teams.  This position coordinates both commercial and technical aspects of product development including engineering, clinical, regulatory, marketing, and pilot production.  As such, it provides a great opportunity for leadership and visibility within Cutera.


  • Lead cross-functional product development core teams that include members from engineering, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing.  Work with team members to develop business plans, product definitions, and project plans.
  • Lead regular core team meetings to resolve cross-functional issues and ensure projects track to schedule and budget.  Organize stage gate reviews and program updates for senior management.
  • Take ownership of commercial, clinical and technical aspects of product development programs.
  • Lead engineering project teams as needed.  Define and track product development activities and schedules through weekly meetings.  Work proactively with team members to drive for creative, competitive solutions that result in high quality, best-in-class products.
  • Contribute individually to design development, verification, or validation as needed.  Assist with clinical study work as needed.



  • B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering or physical sciences, or equivalent experience, with at least seven years of product development experience.  Medical device experience a plus.
  • At least four years of experience managing project teams with a focus on leading by example.
  • A track record of contributing to successful product introductions including t least one significant program from proof-of-concept through pilot production and a strong understanding of product development best practices.
  • A sense of urgency in driving projects and desire to set ambitious goals.  Work aggressively to meet project schedules.
  • Experienced with project management software tools.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and optics.  Biomedical knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest and curiosity for biomedicine and biomedical applications.
