Engineering Change Analyst II position requires the upmost attention to detail when performing the duties and responsibilities.  The job duties and responsibilities are normal day to day activities that occur in any Document Control group within an organization.  This position requires interaction with Purchasing/Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Art Department, and possibly Sales/Marketing.

  • The job purpose facilitates the following key functions that enable product release/change:
    • Assignment of part numbers
    • BOM Creation
    • Change Control
    • Configuration Control at SKU Level

Duties and responsibilities
The primary job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Part Number Entry
    • Following the SOP for part number creation, create, enter and ensure data is correct and complete.
  • BOM Entry
    • Manually enter or import BOMs into Arena from input received from requestor.
  • BOM Updates/Changes
    • Manually or import BOM additions and deletions (p/n, qty, ref des, notes, etc)
    • Reconfiguration of BOMs may be required based on manufacturing needs.
  • Sourcing Entry/Updates/Changes
    • Identifying the difference between a manufacturer and a distributor
    • Ability to determine the MPN
    • Ability to determine if a part number needs to be updated or a new part number needs to be created
  • WritingECO’s,MCO’s & Deviations
    • Ability to create change from input received from a requestor
    • Requires the ability to work with multiple groups within Velodyne to gather all the required information for changes
  • Product configuration at SKU level and below.
  • Participate in product team meetings and report/track deliverables associated with product release.
  • Update procedures, MPI’s and other documentation used in operations with input from engineers, technicians and operations personal. 

Qualifications include:

  • Use of PLM (Agile or Arena) software
  • Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point Experience
    • Ability to update or create documents
  • Minimum 5 years of Document Control experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
    • This is very general and could range from building product in house as well as outsourcing to an OEM partner.
  • Read, Write and Speak English
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 process and audits
  • Component knowledge  (manufacturer & MPN)
  • Product and product configuration knowledge
Working conditions
About 85% of the time for this job function will be in a sitting position working on a computer.  Meeting attendance and training attendance is required from time to time.  Interaction with various departments to ask questions and gathering additional information for specific requests is required.
Physical requirements
The physical requirements for this position include sitting, standing, data entry and walking.  Lifting of heavy objects is not required.
