Job Summary

The Battery Engineering Team at our company produces high energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design and Reliability Testing groups, the Battery Product Development team owns battery module development from initial system architecture through ramp.
The Design Tools team works closely with all Battery teams to develop in-house, design and process automation tools, as well as custom productivity tools, to help the designers achieve increased quality and efficiency, in creating innovative designs. The Design Tools Engineer will closely work with other team members to identify opportunities, understand requirements and then architect and develop solutions, including templates (CAD), macros, journals, Knowledge Fusion and NXOpen Applications, along with other custom Mac OS and Windows (.Net) apps and web applications (Ruby on rails, Ember). The Engineer will also develop and maintain help documentation and test cases for these tools.


• Collects requirements for automation projects
• Brainstorms solutions with cross-functional teams
• Develops and implements KBE tools including parametric template, scripts, journals and NXOpen software applications
• Works with other team members on multiple software development and NX automations projects
• Communicates cross-functionally to clarify requirements and collect feedback
• Generates test cases and documentation
• Participates in Agile project management life cycle, including sprint planning and execution, scrums and validation testing. 
• Practices exceptional documentation and communication skills
• Conducts thorough testing of all software applications prior to deployment
• Conducts and participates in architecture and solution reviews
• Generates estimates based on project requirements 


Key Qualifications

  • Mechanical or EE or CS major.
  • 3+ years experience with the following:
  • NX automation using Open API, NXOpen, Block and UI Styler
  • Winforms and Knowledge Fusion (desirable)
  • CAD modeling, Assemblies, Drafting (PMI & CAE desirable)
  • Familiar with ECAD – MCAD integration (desirable)
  • Software development and Object Oriented programming
  • Databases
  • Data analysis
  • Familiarity with Big data, Machine learning concepts
  • Agile software development, project lifecycle activities including estimation, risk assessment, project and sprint planning, testing and validation.
  • Familiarity with Lithium-based battery technologies is highly desired
